High res Jpegs
So after hours of battling with my computer I managed to work out a way of rendering out my videos, it involved me changing the range of frames manually every 10 frames, this did mean I would have to be sitting at my computer the entire render, I also sadly couldnt get past rendering more than 3 frames without a crash when using the required resoloution so i had to use 640 x 480 sorry about that, but whilst i prepare my video here are the high res jpegs of my final model:

Sigh...
So couldn't fix the render problem, decided i know ill make a film composed of shorter 200 frames shots and edit them together, rendering was going nicely.. until computer switched off again, not a problem ill load up the file and finish off the rest of the render, but switching off wasn't enough max had to corrupt my file, fine i thought of this i made several back ups just in case.. but what the hell max has corrupted all 3 files? i don't understand waste of half a day, this project is not going well for me so far.

Rendering...
So as I start up my test render i realise I am going to have some difficulty getting my 30 second video finished, my computer switches Itself off every 20 or so frames, this is very irritating when rendering out 750 frames of footage, so i managed to get around 350 frames done tonight, hopefully i will find a soloution tomorrow, but here is another still render of my structure more or less complete:
Texturing update
So as i was growing increasingly bored of texturing I decided to do a quick comp in fusion using a beauty pass and an AO pass, here's the test comp i am quite pleased with, obviously the texturing is incomplete but overall the comp has come out quite well. I also added in some trees just to get an idea of scale.

Texturing
Scrap the Roof..
Since i did a little bit of research into circular retractable roofs for large buildings it looks like its not the best of ideas, i did come up with a way to get it to work, but it would involve allot to fit it nicely to the bent roof of my structure. The only stadium that i found with this was an american baseball stadium wich however had a perfectly flat top for the roof to slide accross.

Here is the final model of my structure before texturing

Getting there...
another quick update, modelling is coming along nicely, debating wheater or not to have a roof that opens and closes, would involve me doing some research into the mechanics of how the motorised roofs on football stadiums work.
Here is an example of what i may be working towards, i would of course have to think about how it could work with a circular roof

Inspiration
Since i want to change the outside structure slightly of the globe to something more modern and suitable for gigs and events i thought i would do some research into other open air circular structures, here are some images of structures i find inspiring and also what are a good base to begin designing my reinvention of the globe.

Gig Venue
I'v been thinking if I'm going to convert the globe theater into a live music venue what important elements i'm going to have to add to the structure, heres the list:
lighting rig( how will this fit to the stage and structure?)
Audio equipment (pa system, floor monitors etc)
Audio Mixing (where will the sound booth be?)
type of roofing needed to be added ( if it rains gigs will suck in an open top arena and thats more than likely in London)
i'm going to have to redesign the stage for security purposes a little
and most importantly where to place the bar (every venue has one, theres no getting round it)
Decision
As i wanted to try and convert one of the structures into a modern day music venue i thought the best to do this would be the globe theater, having been burnt down several times over the original plans are hard to come by, but i have found some plans and measurements of the current standing globe theater on the south-bank of London
a second famous circular structure is the Roundhouse in Camden, a much closer scale to the globe theater and a similar two floor structure.
I will be heading into London this week to take some reference images of the Globe theater and hopefully get a good idea of how it was built.
Starting up
Just thought i'd get my blog up and running for my Arch vis uni assignment. I have been asked to accurately model a choice of four buildings and modernise the structure. The four choices are; Tower Bridge, The Globe Theater, The British Museum and St Albans Cathedral.
